Finally took advantage of some fair weather and got out on the roads at the weekend, although the fair weather didn't last long. Cool sunshine turned into headwinds and by the time I got home I was pleased of the rest. My Sunday morning trek took me out to Lavenham, down to Bridge Street, up to Shimpling, up further to Stansted and then back down into Melford and up Tesco hill to home. Very satisfying.
The rain was with me again this am. After a pointless trip to take the kids to school, who informed me on my arrival that neither of them were going in, I donned waterproofs and took the 3.5 mile journey into the office. Wet head winds followed.
I am hoping that the mood will lighten during the day so my journey home is dry!!

A daily (not always) blog about my cycling and the world as it unfurls around me. I set myself a challenge to cycle 2000 miles during the year (mostly by cycling to work and back) and this is the record of how I achieve the aim and all the things that happen on the way!!!

Daily Log: #4 - Summer Rain
Distance Travelled: 13.65 miles
Time on Bike: 50 minutes
Average Speed: 16.38 mph
Totals: 57.33 miles, 3 hours 26 minutes, 16.7 mph
There's nothing worse in the warm weather than having to suit up for rain. Admittedly on leaving work last night I took a gamble that it wasn't going to but took my yellow top just in case it rained this morning.
No sooner had I hit Bull Lane than it started to spit and then drizzle and it looked like it was settling in so I did the decent thing and pulled the yellow from my top and slipped it on at the bypass junction. Inevitably it then stopped raining....
There followed 9 miles of hard slog against a head wind that had me sweating buckets thanks to the yellow's fantastic waterproofing. Might have just as well exposed myself to the elements !!!
